I started another game thread as Goya was posting this one, so please ignore the other. We can carry on here.
What I posted was . . .
Starting pitchers for the early games:
Louisville--Carroll
Carolina--Villarreal
Dayton--Gerson
Dayton scored one in the first (on a double by Yorman), so that one's over.
Indy leads 2-1 after 2.5 innings.
Ronald Torreyes is 1-for-2 with a HR (#2) and a walk tonight.
Jordan Wideman will be the backup catcher for Corky this weekend while Mesoraco is at the futures game.
2 walks now. power and patience!Ronald Torreyes is 1-for-2 with a HR (#2) and a walk tonight.
Oh, and the Dragons lead 8-1
Torreyes: 2-for-3 HR (#2), two walks, two RBI
Yorman Rodriguez: 2-for-4 two doubles
9-0 Dayton after 7 1/2
Bats are losing 10-1 in the 9th.
Gerson got lit up for three hits in 6.1 IP. His ERA is now 0.75.
anyone that little with that much hitting ability needs a nickname. do we have a nickname for him yet? If not, I suggest El Cargabates (the Batboy). I think it works. He's about the size of a batboy, looks like a kid, and carries a big bat.Torreyes: 2-for-3 HR (#2), two walks, two RBI
Should we start getting excited about Gerson? Anyone have a scouting report on him?
In 6 starts between Billings and Dayton:
36 IP
24 H
7 BB
28 K
3 ER
.75 ERA
.86 WHIP
I know it's Billings and low-A (and he's not young), but those are some pretty fine numbers. I would assume he's not overpowering as his K numbers have never been too high, but he seems to have something going on.
Bats lost 10-1
The 2 saving graces:
Mesoraco went 2 for 4
Bats pitchers didn't give up any walks. (Carroll, Lehr and Johnson)
10 earned runs, but no walks
Maddox and Buckley have homered for Billings, which leads 7-6 after seven.
Brandon Dailey (.460) is 2-3 with a 3B and the AZL Reds lead 4-2 in the fifth. Jordan Smith pitched the first two innings and gave up one unearned run.
