Phipps strikes out swinging to end the Mudcat rally in the 8th. They trail by 3 heading into the ninth.
Billings postponed. Bakersfield starts in about 20 minutes if my time zone calculating is correct.
AZL Reds jump out to a 2 zip first inning lead. 2nd round and just signed Gabriel Rosa is making his debut at third. He flies out to left in his first AB. Brandon Dailey, who is putting up some lofty numbers, led off the first by getting hit and came around to score.

Through 2 now and the AZL Reds still lead 2-0. French, pitching for the
Reds' farm club, is administering some Wild West Justice by striking out two and not allowing any hits. He now has 24 Ks in 15 IP.
Back in Mudcat Land, Donnie Joseph pitches a scoreless 9th. Henry Rodriguez walks to lead off the bottom of the frame with Carolina needing 3 to tie, four to win. Nothing further comes of it and Carolina loses 10-7.

French with 3 hitless innings and 3 Ks now. 2-0 still.
In his 2nd pro ab ROSA hits a 2run homer
Justice French now with four hitless innings. I think that is usually about all a starter goes in the AZL.
Quad Cities takes a 7-6 lead in the 7th but the Dragons post a two-spot in the top of the 8th. This has been a wild one. 8-7 Dayton in the middle of the 8th. Quad Cities has scored with one out in the bottom of the 8th and it now all tied up again. Dayton's runs in the top of the 8th came courtesy of two walks, a botched sac bunt play to load the bases and a two-run single by Yorman, giving him 4 RBI on the night.

French gives up an unearned run in the fifth courtesy Gabriel Encarnacion Rosa's throwing error. Lucas O'Rear on to pitch the sixth. AZL Reds lead 4-1. AZL Reds have made four errors in the game so far.
Bakersfield trails 3-0 early.
Tucker Barnhart singles in a run in the top of the 9th. Dayton up 9-8 and still batting. Torreyes just doubled in two runs and then scored on a single. 12-8 Dragons.
Hitting stars aplenty for Dayton tonight:
Hamilton - 2 for 5 with a walk, 3 RS 1 RBI
Torreyes - 3 for 5 a home run shy of a cycle, 2 RS, 2 RBI
Rodriguez - 3 for 4 with two walks, 1 RS, 4 RBI
Vidal - 2 for 4, 2 doubles, 2 RS
Barnhart - 2 for 3, 2 walks, 1 RS, 3 RBI

Drew Hayes came on to shut the River Bandits down in the 8th and then pitched a scoreless 9th to get the win.
