    Re: Goin' to Kansas City...

Just got back from Kansas city. I love that city!

We stayed at the Hotel Phillips which was quite nice. We could see one of the Power & Light District signs from our window.

We arrived in town about 1:00 and hit Arthur Bryant's. The open faced burnt end sandwich was as good as advertised. Then, we hit the Boulevard Brewery tour which was great. The Tank 7 Farmhouse from the Smokestack series was my favorite. That night, we went to the Power & Light District and ate at Johnny's Tavern which had been suggested by my wife's friend. It was pretty good. We then hung around the courtyard, drank $8 beers, listened to live music before heading to the Flying Saucer for a few more. It was a fun night.

The second day, we went to the Farmers' Market and ate at a place called (I think) the Farmhouse. My eggs were great great. Afterward, I was dragged to the Steamboat Arabia Museum. I did not really want to go, but my wife insisted. It turned out to be a really great educational experience. I loved it and really recommend it to anyone going to KC. For lunch, we went to Jack's Stack for more BBQ and it was very, very good. That evening, we ate at Blanc Burger. It was incredibly crowded and our waiter acted as if we were inconveniencing him. I enjoyed my $10 burger though and the fries served in little shopping carts. Afterwards, we walked to O'Dowd's Little Dublin and had a couple on the roof. There were several fans blowing and some shade so it was very pleasant. Later that night, we ended up at the top of the Hyatt Regency's Skies revolving restaurant. We had desserts (which were expensive but not real tastey) in the lounge and watch the KC night from 42 floors up.

We ate brunch on day three at a casino that was recommended to my wife. It was not very good to be honest. We went to the Royals versus Rays game that afternoon. It was an excellent experience. Very festive and fun. We didn't tailgate but saw lots of them having fun. The Royal hall of Fame was very nice.

Overall, we all loved Kansas City. The people were all very nice (except maybe the Blanc Burger waiter). Thanks everyone who made suggestions.
