    Letter to Bob and Walt

    Dear Bob and Walt,

If you're going to pay a guy like Votto a bunch of money, you better pay a bunch of money to protect him the lineup so he gets pitches to hit. He may be the only pure hitter on the team, and he gets little to hit. You need to either do it by this trading deadline or in the offseason. Otherwise, your investment in Joey will have far less return than it would if he had a Matt Holliday-type hitter hitting behind him, like you know who does.

Usually, things like this are obvious. But since it took you a month longer than it should have to bring up Cozart, I decided I'd better point this out.

    Thanks,

From all of us who wanted to bring Cozart up a month ago.

P.S. - if you don't get protection for Joey in the lineup, look for him to walk in 3 years.

Do you think the players expect Walt to make a deal to give the team a boost? Or, do they (players) think they can succeed with what they got and don't need any help?
