Can anyone speak to his power potential? I never thought he was seen as a guy with this much power even though most thought he would never stick at SS
I could see 20-25 per year, which isn't great for a first baseman, but not horrible either. Two scouts both said they see Soto as what Derrek Lee was at that age.

A scoring change makes the pitching line for Thompson...

    Code:
Player IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
    Thompson 5.0 8 6 6 2 4 2 3.18
He did pick up the save. Fisher got the win.

I thought Soto was always believe to have nice power, but it took awhile to come around. Could be wrong, but didn't he break Juan Gonzalez's home run record back in his home area or something like that in youth? Time for Doug to chime in!

    I love it. Your run-of-the-mill 5-inning save.

Couldn't agree more. I'm really more excited about Torreyes and Duran than the other players at this point. Torreyes just handles the bat so well that it looks like a video game, and I'm pretty sure that at some point Duran is going to drill a hole through the outfield wall with his power.

Ryan Wright has a nice start tonight for the AZL Reds, 2-2 with a 2B. Tanner Robles has 7 K in three innings. Reds lead 3-0.

Felix Perez extended his hitting streak following a two-hit day for Carolina. His batting average is up to .255, which is night-and-day better than what it was a couple months ago. Maybe it's not quite time to give up on him as a future major leaguer (not that I would call anyone out for saying anything like that).

Bakersfield was down 2-0 going into the 6th, but they scored 5 to take a 5-2 lead. The score is now 7-4. All their hitters except Ryan LaMarre (who is up now) has at least 1 hit. Kevin Coddington is doing great since his demotion and is 3-4 with 5 RBIs. Meanwhile, Brodie Greene--who has made quite a case to be called up lately--has doubled and homered. Mark Serrano walked 4, struck out 5, and gave up 2 ER over 6 innings.

After going 0-for-6 a couple days ago, Torreyes is 7 for his last 10.

The DSL Reds' game ended after 7 innings for some reason. They won their 3rd in a row as the team's best pitcher, Werleen Taveras, pitched all 7 innings and gave up only 2 runs.

Doug Salinas nailed things down for Bakersfield to get the save in an 8-4 win.
