Renken strikes out the side. 9Ks in 5 innings. 1 hit. 2 walks. I am guessing Low-A ballplayers struggle against a good breaking pitch.

Top of 5th, Carolina has the bases loaded with none out. Soto up.

Donald Lutz is the first Dragon in team history to hit for the cycle with a ground single to leadoff the fifth. Congrats! My job here is done. I am out.

A reverse natural cycle needing only 4 plate appearances, no less. Amazing!

I don't know much about Lutz. Is he seen as any kind of a prospect?

Soto with a fly to left that's caught and Phipps thrown out at the plate. Grandal gone and that's the end of the bases loaded threat. Hope this one doesn't come back to haunt.

LOTS of power. Poor plate discipline. Hasn't been playing baseball long though.

Through five full, the Mudcats still hold a 2-0 lead. Tennessee sends Rhoderick out to face Carolina in the sixth after Searle goes the first five.

Perez greets him with a solid single.

Denis Phipps walks to force in a run. Henry Rodriguez follows that with a three run double. Carolina up 6-0.

Soto drives a ball to right center to plate two more runs, 8-0 Carolina. Pitching change for the Smokies.

Campbell drives in Soto with a double to left. Mudcats go up 9-0 with that. Castro drives in two more to put the guys up 11-0...that's 9 runs so far this inning for Carolina. Klinker up with two out.

Carolina is retired after scoring nine runs in the inning, the third biggest inning in franchise history. Carolina put 11 runs up in one inning against this same team in 2008 for the franchise record.

Dayton always seems to bust out when Chris Berset is in the lineup.

Josh Vitters with a three run shot to make it 11-3. End of the night for Klinker. Two out in the bottom of the sixth as Clayon Shunick comes on in relief.
