Going 0 for 6 must have pissed El Raton off a little. He has gone 8 for 11 since.

Renken with a hitless second and two more Ks. What kind of prospect is he? His K/9 is 11.3.

Hamilton with his second hit of the night. He has been hitting better lately. Steals number 72 without a throw.

End of one full, 2-0 Carolina. Klinker needs a really good outing. He gave up seven runs in the first inning last time out. Much better first tonight.

Fringe starting prospect. Average fastball, good breaking ball. Not your typical starter mechanics, but they aren't "scary" or "violent", just a little different. Wouldn't surprise me if he winds up a reliever in AAA in a few years (not saying he is a AAA guy, just that might be the level he finds himself moved to the bullpen).

Thanks. Torreyes draws a walk. Two on, two out.

Lutz with a stand-up triple into the gap. Halfway to the cycle. Berset clipped by a pitch. Two on for Juan Duran.

Phipps singles giving him his second hit of the night. This is his seventh consecutive multi-hit game, a franchise record here in Carolina. The previous Mudcats record of five games was held by Miguel Cabrera.

RBI line drive single to left for Duran. 9-0. First two batters were retired before the floodgates opened. 9-0 after two innings.

David Cook watches the third strike to end the Mudcats half of the second, leaving two runners stranded. Today is Cook's 30th birthday.

Phipps is a weird situation. Spends years of absolute mundane-ness, and then this....
