Wait, what the hell? I thought Guillon was too young (19) to be subjected to the Rule 5 draft. Do the Reds really have to put him on the 40-man this offseason or risk losing him? You sure you're not thinking of Neftali Soto?

Because Guillon's original contract was voided, when he re-signed with the Reds, it meant that he would be available for each rule 5 draft to follow if not on the 40-man roster. It's a weird, obscure rule that Baseball America mentioned a while back.

Mudcats win 11-6 but OF COURSE freaking Chattanooga Lookouts come back and win again so no ground was made for the Mudcats tonight. Ugh

Bakersfield won 5-1. I think it was the home-field advantage that helped them prevail. How could you expect the San Jose Giants to compete against a team that's backed by a rabid fan base that flooded the gates with a paid attendance of 413?

+ 26-year-old Derrik Lutz has yet to give up a run since joining the Blaze.
+ Following an abysmal June, J.C. Sulbaran is putting up solid numbers in July.
+ Drew Bowman lowered his BB/9IP to a hair above 8.35.
+ Didi Gregorius and Brodie "Promote to Carolina" Greene had three hits apiece.
+ I got some coupons to Red Lobster.

    - Ryan LaMarre is hitless in his last 11 at-bats.
    - The recently-signed Jorge Jimenez is another day older.
    - Sulbaran hit two betters, had a wild pitch, and also had a balk.
    - My parents want to go to Red Lobster with me.

Say I'm sick, give them the coupons, and tell them to go without me?

You might as well take them Cam because it's not like you're going to be taking some hot chick there.

True. Every woman I've gotten to know, I kicked out as soon as I woke up the next morning.

A couple more notes to take away from the Carolina win last night...

Felix Perez has quietly put together an 11 game hitting streak. The team had a season high 17 hits last night.

Donnie Joseph and Justin Freeman struck out the side in the eighth and ninth respectively. That was huge for both of these guys whose troubles have been well documented.

Some concerning things from this game:
Lutz went 0-2 in at bats once he hit for the cycle.
Torreyes had only 1 walk. Only 1. ugh.
Hamilton only 1 walk and only 1 SB. No wonder poor D'Anna only had 5 RBI.
No sac flies for the whole team!!

I don't know what to make of this comment. The guy goes 4-6 and there is a concern? Am I missing something?

You are missing the sarcasm. I thought the rest of the post would have made that clear, ex criticizing Torreyes for going 5-5 but only having 1 walk. Sorry I should have broken out the emoticons.
