On top of that, you have solid depth in Skelton, Mendez, Kahaulelio, Fellhauer, and Rojas.
Agreed. If this team had middle of the pack pitching it would be on top of the division.

I wonder if the pitching will get just a tweak better when Rojas returns.

Also Fairel. He has now worked a few rehab starts at Arizona.

Soto is shooting back up the Reds prospect rankings one would think. Can take our time with him between AA and AAA while we still control Votto and we could possibly be looking at his replacement if Votto decides to go elsewhere. Too bad Soto couldn't stick at 3B, where he was back in the day.

Yep he sure is and to me he is the answer to 1b post Votto because I think something with Alonso will happen within the next year.

Through 5 1/2 Mudcats still up 4-2. Brandon Hynick with a solid start. That's likely it for him. Travis Webb was warming in the pen.

Bill Rhinehart to the plate for his first AB as a Reds employee.

Rhinehart grounds out after working the count full. Webb headed to the mound after six full.

Chris Mobley replacing Travis Webb in the eighth. The Suns have pulled to within one and are still batting. Score: 4-3 Carolina.

Not to pile on here, but . . . when the Mudcats take a 4-2 lead into the eighth, it's like they're playing from behind.

    Another good effort for Renken: 5.2 IP, 3H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K. (3.18)
    And Blaine Howell: 2.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 4 K. (2.08)
    And Drew Hayes: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K. (1.61)

    Dayton wins 6-1.

And sure enough, even after adding a run in the eighth, Carolina will be batting from behind in the bottom of the ninth. It's 6-5 with Jacksonville still batting. Mobley again.
