    Organizational Gold Glove Team

Mostly guessing here. Going by what I've read, for the most part. Feel free to tweak or fill in:

    C -- Barnhart
    1B -- ??
    2B -- Torreyes
    SS -- Rojas
    3B -- Vidal or Campbell
    OF -- Phipps
    OF -- Sappelt
    OF -- LaMarre

Others considered: Sierra, Gregorius, Hamilton, Bowe, Coddington . . .

Chris Richburg gets the job done fairly well at first base. I'd go with him.

I thought Hamilton and Sappet are butchers?

Semi off-topic question: where is Rojas playing with Hamilton at Dayton?

    Is that a joke?

Hamilton and Sappelt both have plus range. Sappelt has a below average arm and Hamilton has the arm to play shortstop but he needs to work on being more consistent on his throwing motion.

Rojas is in AA, but has been dealing with shoulder issues for most of the season.

Doug or whoever--I mentioned Bowe only because he has tremendous speed. I actually know nothing else about his defense. Is he pretty good?

And by the same token, maybe Andrew Means should be noted, as well.

This is a good topic. Defense does not get as much attention here as it should.

I generally agree with your selections, although most within the Reds organization would have Sierra rated higher than Sappelt or LaMarre. Delino has said many times publicly that he thinks Sierra is the best defensive outfielder in the organization. Others have said Sierra and Phipps are at the top. Sappelt and Bowe are similar defensive players. Neither can throw at all. Both have excellent range (Sappelt better, I think). I would put Means ahead of LaMarre, but some may disagree with that.

Richburg probably at first base. D'Anna is not bad either. I have not seen Soto play first but I would imagine in time he would be solid there.

Does Phipps have a gun? Great range? Both?

What position does he project to play? CF?

Phipps has one of the best arms in the minors, not limited to just our system. Not great range. He is probably a right fielder.

Definetly LaMarre over Means. I'd be willing to bet LaMarre has the most assists in the organization.

He has 14... that is a lot.

    Denis Phipps also has 14.

Dougdirt - where did you find the assist info? I've been looking all over. The LaMarre thing was just a guess but every time I listen it seems as if he's throwing someone out.

    Thanks in advance

Funny thing, I went to the team pages for our teams and Phipps had 14 that I added up between Carolina and Louisville, but his individual page only lists 12.
