I've been thinking that Arroyo should be added to the DL. I think the mono thing is still affecting him.
Wood and Arroyo are pretty similar pitchers except for throwing from different side of the mound.
Maybe that's an approach that needs to be made. Get Bronson healthy, let Wood have a go at it.

On the other hand, I think it's plausible that Wood is part of a trade package on the table, and they're holding him out until the deal is either made or isn't.

I honestly think this is the case. It's no coincidence, IMHO, Upton, Span, Desmond and Ramos were all sitting the other night simultaneously.
I think clubs do often sit players this time of year if they think there's a chance a deal will be reached.
My hunch is they've moved Wood back a day to buy them some time if they have something in advanced discussions.

This would mean one of the Reds' holy triumvirate of pitchers is being traded if that report is accurate.
