No top 50 prospects and best was Braves 9 prospect. Probably equivalent was Heisey + Boxberger and two lesser guys. Keep snoring Walt.

If our GM is basing a players trade value off of BA's, BP's, ESPN's prospect rankings, we're in trouble...

And nice response... You copy/pasting that in pretty much every thread right now? Add something intelligent please.

Reds and Braves systems have been ranked similarly (#3 vs. #6 in latest BA). Also for discussion purposes, publication rankings are frequently used to compare and gauge general value (ie player X will require two Top 50 prospects) both on this board and in the national media.

If that was the cost for 1 year of Bourne, I really do hope Walt keeps snoring.

Heisey likely has more value to us going forward (with 5 more controlable years) than 1 year of Bourne.

It is odd that I have felt relieved with almost every trade that's gone down this year.

At the prices players are costing this year, I'm very happy Walt hasn't pulled the trigger.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.

    Re: Bourn to Braves

    Bourn vs Stubbs
Michael Bourn is 28 years old. Drew Stubbs is 26 years old.
Drews Stubbs has 1,248 career plate appearances.
Michael Bourn has 2,414 career plate appearances.
Here is how the two players compare through 1,248 career plate appearances:

    Bourn: .264 BA, .332 OBP, .355 SLG, .687 OPS
    Stubbs: .255 BA, .328OBP, .422 SLG, .750 OPS

    Bourn: 175 R, 38 2B, 18 3B, 9 HR, 69 RBI, 112 SB, 110 BB, 248 K
    Stubbs: 187 R, 39 2B, 9 3B, 43HR, 130 RBI, 66 SB, 113 BB, 354 K

    Contract
Bourn: $4.4M in '11...arbitration again this offseason....free agent after 2012.
Stubbs: $450,000 in 2011...another year before his 3 arbitration years begin after 2012.

Not that I would not mind Stubbs lower in the order to use his power and take away his indecisive ways when he is the leadoff hitter...... but he looks to be more of an asset than Bourn was.
