the next time that Dusty feels like writing Lewis in as the starter?
Thank you.

I did find the quote funny when he basically said that people want to see Alonso over Heisey after complaining about wanting to see Heisey all this time.
Its crazy ain't it? Fans want to see the best players on the field at all times. Who would have thought.
Hey Sparky! Indian Hill English teachers taught me everything I know!
I was only mildly upset before, knowing he could be a in a possible deal. But now that the deadline is past, he better be in the lineup tomorrow vs. Norris.
Yes, as soon as the 5-tool manager Rick Sweet gets called up.
And the unknown quantity always seems to be the "best guy" in fans eyes (remember how many people wanted to sign Lewis in the offseason to replace or platoon with Gomes? Now we've seen what he can do and so the next mystery man happens to be Alonso.)
Maybe the fans will be right about who the better player is right now.

I may be wrong, but I don't remember a support or following as strong for Lewis as there was/is for Heisey.
You hit the nail on the head if you use Janish as an example. I was one of the MANY people who felt the guy was legit, and quite frankly showed in limited playing time that he was. But not as an everyday starter. So I agree with you that limited sample size leaves people wanting more (great story tellers will tell you that ).

When given the options of Lewis, Gomes, and Heisey....well Heisey was the right choice it seemed. Now given the choice of Lewis, Heisey, or Alonso....well Alonso seems the right choice. I don't know why Dusty is playing the 'fans are fickle' card.
Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

I've got no issue with Heisey getting the first crack at most of the AB's. I hoped that would happen long before it did. But, I think Alonso should get the start anytime that Dusty has the inkling to put Lewis' name on the lineup card in LF. Give the kid a shot (he's looked good in the extremely small sample size so far - definitely does not look overmatched).
We may find that between Heisey and Alonso, LF is more than adequately covered all of the sudden.
I don't have an issue with Heisey getting most of the playing time either. What I do have an issue with is the Reds calling up Alonso and the Reds GM saying they moved Gomes to make room for Alonso. How we looking?
