I would LOVE to hear Dusty or even Walt on this

    Homer Bailey and his batterymate
Homer Bailey allowed 9 runs (tying career high) on 12 hits in 4 innings of work in his last start vs the Mets. Ramon Herandez was behind the plate.
Here is the breakdown, by catcher, for Homer in his career.
    2011
    Hernandez
    3 starts, 11.40 ERA in 15 innings, 29 hits, 19 ER
    Hanigan
    8 starts, 2.69 ERA in 50.1 innings, 40 hits, 15 ER
    Career:
    Herandez:
    13 starts, 7.69 ERA, 11 HR in 70.2 innings
    Hanigan:
    30 starts, 3.93 ERA, 17 HR in 176.1 innings

How in the world is Hanigan not the starting catcher tonight outside of he is hurt.....

Bailey had a great start tonight with 1 run in 8 innings on only 99 pitches. So that should end the discussion of whether Hernandez is capable of catching Bailey. At this point Hernandez is hitting so much better than Hanigan that they have to start him more, even though Bailey prefers Hanigan. Why not get as much as possible out of Hernandez while they have him? If he goes down with injury they have Mesoraco to come up anyway.

Because Baker likes to go 2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-2, etc. with Hernandez and Hanigan in starts.

Those splits are misleading in my eyes.

Pitchers making pitches is what gets hitters out.

Those stats reveal a pretty strong correlation - too strong to simply ignore out of hand, anyway. Besides, This AAAstros lineup does not strike fear into the hearts of anyone.

Numbers don't lie, also are you saying the catchers have little or no impact on how a pitcher pitches?

Yes Bailey had a great outing against the Stros AAA team, how did he do against the vaunted Mets the last time?

IF the players are not put in the best position to be successful how is that their fault?
