Bats now 3.5 back in wild card. Bring up Soto and Francisco to replace two of Castro/Costanzo/Griffin/Negron, and they have a very good shot...

Matt Fairel had a tough start for Bakersfield: .1 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 0 K. It was his first after rehabbing in Arizona.

I caught Donald Lutz's Dragons Grand Slam tonight at the game. He signed it afterwards for me. Also obtained autographs of David Vidal, Ronald Torreyes, Frank Pfister, Jaren Matthews and Whitecaps top prospect Alex Burgos. My son and I had the most amazing time ever! I've caught ton's of BP balls and 1 foul ball, but never a HR in a live game. Hope to find a video of it soon. If anyone finds it, please send a link.

Re: Thursday 8-4-11 Minor League Updates

Coming into this season, the lack of decent starters between AA & Rookie Ball knd of worried me.

I'm starting to feel a little more optomistic with the seasons being posted by:

    Sulbaran
    Villarreal
    Renken
    Smith
    Lotzkar
    Corcino
    Crabbe
    Gerson

With the possible exception of Corcino, Lotzkar (if he can stay healthy) and Suibaran, they may not profile as more than back-of-the-rotation starters, but if one or two can just give the Reds an arm they can call up from L'Ville in the next year or two, I'll be happy. I'm hoping Fariel can put together a turnaround year next season.

I also noticed Josh Ravin K'ing a ton, but still giving up way too many BB's. With his arm and stuff, have they ever tried him from the pen? It seems like he's been in the system forever. I just wonder if the change of roles might help with his control issues.

It's 3-1 Billings after six. Spencer Dickinson also homered. Ryan Wright is 2 for 2 with a double.
    Cingrani=STUD.

Kinda cool his last name begins with the same three letters as Cincinnati. (Oh, that's just me? Nevermind.)

Nice. Good for you and your son. (And keep that Torreyes autograph somewhere safe.)

Billings wins in ten, 5-4. Pinckard with the save. Cole Green also pitched well (in relief of Cingrani). Arias singled in the game-winner with two outs, scoring Wright, who was 3 for 3.

Cingrani should be in Dayton for the stretch run, assuming he's not shut down

Highlight from Lutz's homer - I'm having trouble getting it to load though.

Thanks to both of you. I just went to the link and typed in Lutz in the search box and there's the slam video!
