Air Conditioning by Diiv. This is kind of a great gritty summer song.

Re: What am I listening to? (Part II)

I mentioned this under the movie thread, but watching the movie was precipitated by picking up this CD.

Last weekend I picked up a CD from the library titled "Standing in the Shadows of Motown" which turned out to be the soundtrack of a documentary by the same name. It's about the Motown house band, The Funk Brothers. The album features some songs recorded at the famed Studio A at Motown as well as others recorded live in Detroit.

The band is accompanied by various current artists doing the classic Motown hits (from "Hitsville USA"!) Again, as I said over there, I knew of some of the performers; Joan Osborne, Bootsy Collins, Ben Harper and Chaka Kahn. A couple of others I didn't know, but who were good, were Meshell Ndegeocello and Montell Jordon (who sang with Kahn on "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." All in all, the album was a treat.

The majority of The Damned's discography is terrible, but when they got it right, they sure did get it right. I can't get this song out of my head lately.

I am impressed with it. I have listened to it a couple times through and think its up to their standards.

Zac Brown Band - Uncaged Was a little disappointed at first but have come around. Not as good as their earlier two albums but one of the better country ones.

After the game I turned over to Austin City Limits, and a band called Okkervil River was playing. Really interesting sound. I downloaded several tracks, and I'll see how it goes.
