    Sunday 8/7/11 Minor League Updates

The Bats are up 2-1 in the 5th. Volquez on the mound in the first game, 1 run, 2 walks after 4 for him so far.

The Bats lineup is starting to looking a little more human on paper without Sappelt, Frazier, Alonso and Cozart.

One of our old favorites, Chris Dickerson, doubled in a run off of Volquez. 2-2 with the help fo a Michael Griffin throwing error.

Valaika lines a 2-run HR with 2 outs in the last inning to tie the Yankees at 4-4.

Fisher with a perfect 7th and we're going to extras in the first game.

Hermida, Mesoraco and Dorn are due up in the top of the 8th.

Perfect 8th for a save and a Bats win. Wasn't expecting that! Turnaround point?

Phipps 2 Run HR to give the Bats the lead in the 1st! Right now I don't think it makes any difference who is on the mounds, he is just hitting EVERYTHING. His chances of a sept call up improve every day...

Interesting thought, guess he will more than likely be put on the 40 man this season anyway. What about just leaving him down to keep mashing and not risk exposing him then trade him in the off season? There is becoming a glutton of outfielders for the Reds it seems.

The pitching in the first game came entirely from erstwhile Reds: Volquez, Burton, Fisher and Jordan Smith.

Billings is scoreless after three with McMyne pitching.

    . . . Buckley's 11th HR has now put Billings up 1-0.
