    Uggla reaches 30

Dude has now hit in 30 consecutive games - raising his average almost fifty points. Can't believe he's still at .220.

    Re: Uggla reaches 30

30 game hitting streaks are twice as rare as no-hitters. 30 game hitting streaks from a guy hitting .170? Unique.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Would love to see him get to 40. The way he was going; would be one of the most unlikely occurrences in recent baseball history.

Can't remember who Tweeted it yesterday, but I thought it said something like, "if Uggla breaks Dimaggio's hit streak, he could still only be batting about .260".

On a side note, Adam Dunn had his 1 game hitting streak stopped last night as his average dropped to .163.

I wonder if that PH homer to win the game he hit against the Reds was part of the streak.Seems like it was a little over a month ago.It probably wasn't but it wouldn't surprise me if that got his confidence up and led to this streak he's on.

Coming from someone who idolized Pete Rose as a kid growing up...

I am rooting for Dan Uggla to make it past 44 games. Just so he can break the modern day NL record. Might be the wrong reason but I want it to bother the current NL modern day record holder. That person bothered/bothers me and it only seems fitting to this former fan for the anguish that his actions created for me as a one-time defender and fan. Do not like that person's attitude or his arrogance. Just being honest. I will not "bet" on Uggla doing it, but I will be rooting for it. Go Dan Uggla!
Small market fan... always hoping, but never expecting.

Yea, I'm rooting for his fluke of a streak to get stopped tomorrow.

And I'm sure it will be. There have been some altogether forgettable players who have had 30-game hitting streaks in recent years. Sean Casey, hello?

    Re: Uggla reaches 30

Tango pointed out that Dan Uggla is basically hitting exactly as well during this streak as he did during the exact same time period last year. Streaks are funny like that.

    I'll be rooting for him.

I enjoy seeing others accomplish great things.

Unlike some in this thread I get no pleasure from the misfortune or misery of others.

33 now. He's starting to get up there in "rare" company. 36 is when it starts to get super rare, as only 1 player has gone that many games from 36 and up and hit the milestones.

I just think that hitting streaks are cool.... the guy has been tearing it apart for over a month with no break in between. I love it. Keep it going.

Streaks like this are great for baseball.
