    Wednesday 8/10/11 minor league recap

*AZL Reds won. Chacin got his ninth save and his ERA is down to 0.55. Wow.

    * Billings won and Sean Buckley crushed his 12th homer. Waldrop had his sixth triple and is now batting .269.

    * Dayton won behind good pitching from Corcino (7 IP, 2 ER, 5 K, ND) and Hayes who was perfect for his 19th save. Hayes is too good for that level. He's dominated all year. Could he be the Reds' closer of the future? Or is it Boxberger? Or Chacin? (Or is it Chapman? But I'd like to see him become a starter.)

    * Bakersfield and Carolina were off.

    * Louisville lost, but Mesoraco clubbed his 12th HR of the year. He also has a whopping 33 doubles and is batting .293 (.851 OPS). ... Also, Phipps was 2-for-4 including his fourth homer for the Bats. He's batting .357 with Louisville. What in the world got into this guy the last three months?

After five scoreless innings from Radhames Quezada, Billings came within a run of its fourth straight shutout.
