    Kearns DFA'd by Tribe

Choo came back way ahead of schedule from injury and Kearns was designated for assignment to make room... this has been a rough year for Kearns.

Is he done or is another career resurgence still in store?

When did he have his first career resurgence?

Imagine what might have been if Ray King didn't sit his big butt on Kearns that day...

I don't think he's done, he can still kick around as a 4th outfielder for a few more years.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

If you look at the numbers over the past few seasons, I'm surprised he wasn't done before now.

He's done. The bat speed has depreciated and I don't think his body is in the type of shape that he can play the game at a high level anymore. It's hard to believe, but he and Dunn are basically winding down at the same point; about 5 years earlier than I thought each would.

He got sat on, it didn't knock all his talent out. He took care of that himself

He was looking to me like a Manny Ramirez re-incarnate for a half season until the Ray King thing happened. And since then he has never even been half the player.

Dunn is having a bad year. historically bad yes, but last year was still better than any year Kearns put up.

    IMO, Dunn isn't... done.

A man more interested in doing 12 oz curls with his buddies than working to improve has game, from everything I've heard.

Ironic that DUI Choo would take his roster space then.

Kearns bat speed always looked slow. Maybe it was his clunky follow through.

Since then he's made about 19 million bucks and compiled 92% of his career at bats.

Maybe he just wasn't as good as everyone thought?

    This is the very beginning
This is the once upon a time
    Somebody's starting something
    These are the opening lines

    "Seymour is waking up
    He's wearing striped pajamas
He's jumping out of bed all smiles, he yells
    'This is the beginning!' "

Yes every story has a beginning, middle and an end
And when it's over we can go back and tell it all again
Yes every story has a beginning annnnnnnd....

This is the middle of the story
Here's where we get to the meat
    Somebody's up to something
We're on the edge of our seats

    "Seymour looks out the window
    He waves to Mrs. Fazzini
He catches a ride on a friendly pterodactyl
    He shouts

'This must be the middle!' "

Yes every story has a beginning, middle and an end
And when it's over we can go back and tell it all again
Yes every story has a beginning, middle annnnnnnd....

This is the end of the story
This is the how it all worked out
    Somebody winds up somewhere
This is the what it's all about

"Seymour flys way back in time
He goes in to visit with some cavemen
He runs a very successful frozen yoghurt stand
    He says
    'It's a happy ending!' "

Yes every story has a beginning, middle and an end
And when it's over we can go back and tell it all again
Yes every story has a beginning, middle annnnnnnd....
    An end

Pay attention to the open sky

    Re: Kearns DFA'd by Tribe

His power just dried up and he's had some low BABIPs. I think there's still an .800 OPS bat in there, but he's definitely running out of chances. Perhaps he needs to retool his swing.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.
