The Value of IP: A Thought Experiment

    nm... this was nonsense
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I mean I see the point Rick is trying to make, but baseball isn't played on a spreadsheet.

No thought experiments are bad. But some are better than others.

This thread is young and reaching it's prime number of posts. I'd expect it to have surplus value over the course of its activity.

RedsManRick is the streakiest poster I have ever seen. He can make a run of great posts and then type out a real turd like this one. He has always shown such promise but has failed to take that next step. Disappointing. I want to see a prolonged period of consistency from him.

Agree 100%. At one time, RMR was considered the #1 prospect in the entire SunDeck. More is expected of him than this.

    too long; didn't read.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Yeah, time to trade him for prospects. I heard that Boss is already in talks with STL Today. Of course, they have no prospects (the team nor the board), so we'll see. We might end up having to sell him to Sons of Sam Horn for cash, or churn some sort of blockbuster out with them.

I'd rather listen to Kelch read the phone book than suffer through Thom Brennaman's attempt to make every instance on the field the most important event since the discovery of manned space flight. -westofyou
