    Saturday 8-20-11 Minor-League Updates

At this early stage of the deal, Lucas O'Rear (8.05) is looking like a heckuva basketball player. The AZL Reds trail 3-0 in the fourth.

Mudcats start with two men on in the first thanks to two early errors. Berry and Gregorius on.

Grandal represents the Carolina season by striking out with men on 2nd and 3rd to end the top of the first. No score.

The Bats are leading 8 - 0 in the 3rd, with 11 hits, including HR by Dorn and Costanzo off a starter who was brought up from A+.

Oh my goodness. Carolina scores 6 in the top of the third and gives up 5 in the bottom. It's 6-6.

Carolina leads 14-12 after 6. They've put up the 14 without the benefit of a home run. Billings is in a delay, dealing with a damp field.

Who needs a home run when you score touchdowns? They missed the PAT in the third but made the two-point conversion in the sixth.

The Dayton kids are learning how to win. One of the secrets seems to be having Drew Hayes to close. Final was 10-9 in 10.

Hamilton scored 4 runs on 1 hit and 3 walks. Lutz had 4 hits. Sierra had 3. Theo Bowe drove in the winner.
