    Brewers sign Randy Wolf 3/$30mm

    Read all about it!

11:22am: Yahoo's Tim Brown tweets that the Brewers will agree with Wolf today on a three-year deal worth just under $30MM. Ken Rosenthal says an agreement has been reached. ESPN's Buster Olney agrees with Haudricourt's figure: $27MM.
EDIT: The player's name is "Wolf" and the title should say 3/$30 million.

    Ummmmmm.

Will be 33, and coming off a career year. Didn't the Brewers learn anything from Jeff Suppan? Glad it's the Brewers and not the Reds.

I love the smell of typos in the morning!

Randy Wold isn't very well known and is therefore, underrated.

Wolf is a fine choice for the Brewers. They're still short at least another starter, probably two or three.

His value went up considerably when he wasn't offered arbitration.

3/10 implies three years for at $3.333M per. The headline should read 3/30 or, more accurately, 3/27.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    agree.

Wolf is 33 years old. Career ERA+ of 103 and career whip of 1.4

In 2009 he had an ERA+ of 122 and a whip of 1.1 (career bests).

IMO a good deal for Mr Wolf. He is a decent pitcher but its always risky when you give multi year contracts to guys north of 30.

One last note: he would not have been a good fit for the Reds due to his flyball/groundball ratio being too high.

Isn't there an RFS joke in there somewhere?

May I request a title change?

giving a guy like Wolf(age/injury history) that much money after having a good season in a decided pitchers park is at best grasping at straws and is courting disaster. Reminds of their Suppan signing.
