Reds vs. Fish Game One 8/24/11 Wednesday

Game 1: Whither Yonder? Fay mumbled something about the huge left field in Sun Life Stadium but, let's be honest, the Reds should be showcasing Yonder for his stick at this point. Fay also speculates he (Alonso not Fay - LOL) may play third in Game 2. Yikes! Renteria back in the lineup. Razor all the way up to the 5-hole.

    Phillips
    Sappelt
    Votto
    Bruce
    Hernandez
    Stubbs
    Frazier
    Renteria
    Bailey

I'd like to see Alonso at 3rd in game 2. At this point losing isn't that big of a deal so we need to try to find out where we can put him.

Milwaukee loses 2 zip to the Pirates. Los Angeles manhandling the Cardinals again. Reds can get within two games of St. Louis. It looks like Jaime Garcia mirage is finally over. Numbers over his last six starts (including today) look something like this:

    32.1 IP 48 H 24 ER 13 BB 21 K 5 HR

Votto singles with two outs. How are the Reds gonna afford to keep him?

I will be watching this thread closely while I finish up the workday. Apparently, the local Reds Radio Network affiliate will not be carrying Game 1.
What if this is as good as it gets?

Infante doubles off the wall and strolls into second with one out. Bonifacio led off with a grounder to Frazier. Logan Morrison back up with the team. Sharp grounder to Votto moves Infante along to third with two down. Stanton with a towering popup to short left that Renteria hauls in. End of one with no score.

    Fish bottom of the second:
    Ground out.
    Fly ball to right.
    K
    SOAPBOX TIME:
“If Stubbs’ body had been in better position, yeah,” Baker said. “But Stubbs would have had to catch it going to his right and throwing back to his left. (Sappelt) made a pretty good throw. The only thing is he missed the cutoff man a couple of times. These are things you keep stressing.”
This is so much crap. What do players work on in the minors? It should take about ten minutes to drill into someone's head to hit the cutoff man. Just absolute crap. If these players come up and don't know that then the people in the minors aren't doing there freaking jobs very well.

Homer Bailey burns Stanton for playing so shallow and cruises into second with a double.
They had Brandon sacrifice? Whatever. Bailey stands on third.
Foul pop to the first baseman. Bailey has to hold.
    Joey Votto!!!! 2-run Vott Trot!
