Friday 8-26-11 Minor League Game Updates

For the second time in three days the AZL Reds face off against the division-leading AZL Dodgers. And for the second time in three days the AZL Dodgers are running out a starting pitcher with a 0.00 ERA. Juan Ramon Noriego is a 20-year old righthander straight out of the Mexican League. He is listed at a Torreyes-like 5'7" and 145. In limited action in the AZL League he has worked just 9 innings, giving up 6 hits, walking 2 and striking out 15. The AZL Reds have countered with Carlos Gonzalez.

In the bottom of the 4th the AZL Reds trail 2 zip but the AZL Dodgers have the bases loaded with two away. Noriega has pitched three innings, giving up 1 hit and striking out 5. Gonzalez is not faring as well. Update: AZL Reds now trail 5 zip.

James Avery kicks off the final road series for the AA Reds affiliate in 2011, the Carolina Mudcats, tonight in Montgomery. It is almost over.

    BTW, I'm listening to Neil Young's, Like A Hurricane...appropriately.

Three hits for Hamilton. No stolen bases. Barnhart has homered. 9-3.

Seems like David Vidal has been off his game lately. Anybody know if he's been ailing in some fashion?

I feel like every time I check these threads Soto has hit another homer and Phipps has another 2+ hits

Henry R clubbed another HR, this one a slam, in the ninth, but it wasn't enough for Carolina, 12-9.

    Billings rolled 11-3.

Matt Fairel still hasn't gotten it together. Bakersfield trails 7-6 after six.

The Billings win, combined with a Great Falls loss, moves the Mustangs into a first place tie.

There were some intentional HBP in the Bats game stemming from Francisco admiring his HR. Gil was ejected. In fairness to Juan, it was a majestic shot.

Benches cleared but no brawl. Both teams may be ready to rumble tomorrow.
