Carl Richburg homered twice, and Mark Fleury had half that many, as Bakersfield rolled 12-4. Sulbaran went 5 innings with 8 K.
Jon Matthews singled, stole (18), advanced on a throwing error and scored the game-winner on a hit by Gabriel Rosa in the bottom of the ninth as the AZL Reds won 4-3.
Joel Bender, the Oak Hills guy, had a good start: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 8 K. Chacin picked up the win with a perfect ninth.
The victory clinches the wildcard playoff berth for the Reds.
I think Valaika will stay but with Henry Rodriguez and Didi Gregorious in the system, it won't be too hard to let him go.
Billings is in pretty good shape for playoffs also
"After an off-day Monday, the Mustangs hit the road for the final time this season when they begin a three-game series against North Division cellar dweller Helena on Tuesday before traveling to Great Falls for the teams' final two meetings of the season.
Billings holds a one-game edge over Great Falls in the second-half Pioneer League standings and holds all tiebreakers over the Voyagers for the league's final playoff spot.
"We're just taking it one game at a time," Maddox said. "We have a pair of big games against them coming up, but we're not going to be looking ahead. It doesn't matter what Great Falls does if we don't win. We can't be worried about who they're playing or what they're doing. The only thing we control is us."
I can't believe anyone is even asking about Negron. Why in the world would the Reds keep that guy on the 40-man? Exactly.
Valaika at least has a chance, but a very small one IMO. Not only has his production drastically fallen off, the organization has PLENTY of talented second basemen in the organization such as Henry Rodriguez, Brodie Greene and Ronald Torreyes. Also, Billy Hamilton might be a secon*****ger at the MLB level. They also just drafted Ryan Wright, who is a long ways off, but is a very similar player as Valaika. Add it all up and I think this is Chris' final year in the Reds' organization. They don't even need him on the big club as the "utility" guy since they have Todd Frazier to fill that role. (And Cairo.)
Louisville used to be the Red Sox AAA team back in the early 70's. They were known as the Colonels back then. My grandmother and aunt used to get the Courier Journal by mail what back then and I used to go over to their house and read the sports page everyday. I can remember seeing their box scores when a young guy named Fisk was coming along.
This may not be what the person meant but I go back that far anyway.

I think that's like 3 straight solid outings for Guillon. I picked Guillon to break out in a big way nationally, including some dominate pitching for Dayton in the 2nd half of the season during ST. Then rumors starting leaking about his lack of focus, or coachability or such, rumors of poor outings in extended spring training, followed by a terrible start in Billings this year. Hopefully this season end stretch will propel him into a solid offseason and a spot in the Dayton rotation next year.
