    Dragons win 3-2.

Hayes with two scoreless innings to garner the victory.
Torreyes tried to make it a double. From the press box is was really close looking, but it did look like he was out. He shouldn't have tried to stretch it. For about a tenth of a second it seemed that the right fielder bobbled it and the relay was perfect to barely get him.... but knowing the situation, with the heart of the line up coming up in extra innings of a tie game, at home, you stay at first unless you are sure you are going to make it.

Kyle Waldrop with a solo rally-killer in the 9th but it wasn't enough. Billings falls 6-4. Helena right fielder, Maxwell Walla, gunned down two Mustangs on the basepaths.

Tim Crabbe remains inconsistent, but when he's on, he's very, very good. Since July 23, his eight starts include these:

    7/23: 6.1 IP, 0 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 4 K
    8/3: 7 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K
    8/8: 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 8 K
    8/30: 7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 8 K

He's a little like Daniel Renken in that respect, but has handled Bakersfield better. He's also a year-plus older than Renken.

Boxberger has done a lot this year to put himself into position to be the Reds' closer in the future. Not quite sure about 2012, but shortly thereafter. Pretty glad that he will be going to Arizona to get more work and hopefully he is ready for some position in the bullpen in Cincinnati in 2012.

If I had to chose whether I wanted Cordero as closer next year for $5 million or Boxberger for the major league minimum and was not given any other choices, I would definitely pick Boxberger at this time considering the Reds' budget constraints.

    Yep, that's close.

I've been saying it ever since he was drafted. There's no doubt about it. Chapman may get a brief trial as closer until the Reds decide he's ready to be a starter, but following that, I expect it to be Boxberger for many years so long as he maintains his control.
