Well Gameday started by saying it was a double. Can we pretend that Bruce doubled but chose to stay at 2nd as Alonso got the infield single?

Cool. Francisco walks to load the bases. If the Reds get a run across here, Cueto will easily close this out for his 27th win and the Reds will clinch homefield throughout the playoffs.

Ramon Hernandez now 1 for 13 with bases loaded this year. The one hit was an April homer vs. the Pirates. Not good.

Dusty lets Cueto hit for himself and Cueto comes through with a bunt base hit.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

    Reds 7th, part 1.:

Cueto pushes a bunt single past the pitcher toward 2nd. Nice.
Phillips lines a single into right.
Renteria bloops a single into shallow left. Bases juiced, none out.

Dempster is done with nobody out in the 7th, 98 pitches, 62 strikes.
