    Verducci Article

Would recommend Tom Verducci's article on SI.com on 9/6/2011 analyzing how teams like Arizona and Mil go from really bad to really good. Have to agree with his analysis that last year everything went completely right for the Reds with inconsistent players like Gomes and Stubbs hitting really well. He does good job applying a stat. analysis to these teams.

They both got rid of hapless managers and got a new manager who could both motivate and discipline the team. Why dont we try the same formula?

They both went out and acquired some starting pitching. That never hurts.

We can also try to emulate them there if we want, but emulating them by dumping our hapless manager and replacing him with a competent one will also pay big dividends.
