Reds to Have 6-Man Rotation in the Near Term

Jim Day and in an interview with Dusty said the Reds were going to a 6-man rotation for the rest of the season. Arroyo, Edinson, Willis, Leake, and Cueto over the next 6 days. He called it temporary. Said they want to see what Volquez has to determine if he will be offered arbitration. Should be interesting,

It will only be a 6 man once through. Leake only has one start left.

I can't see no offering EV arbitration. Despite his problems, someone is going to want to at least take a shot on an arm like his. He's not going to break the bank in arbitration with this season. Keep him and at least use him to sweeten a pot. Just don't think the Reds can afford to let an asset with his raw tools walk (whether he his in their plans or not), without at least trying to get something for him.

Agreed. Ideally we'll see an early Novenber deal that addresses one of the team's needs and deals with the Volquez question prior to the arb deadline coming into play. The team has enough question marks (and will be adding another if Chapman is starting) and need to deal a few for some certainty.
