could there be a worse hitter in baseball
could there be a worse hitter in baseball
If there is, there shouldn't be.
It's pretty painful. I was really hoping he would play well this year. O well. Looking forward to Cozart next year...
He was given his chance this year to be the everyday shortstop and just threw it away.
Time to ride the Cozart train.
Adam Dunn maybe? slugging .285 thanks to his 11 homers
There are 3 guarantees in life; death, taxes, and the leadoff walk coming around to score.
I never expected Janish to be anything more than a .240 BA singles hitter with excellent defense. The fact that Dusty has batted him 2nd is the thing I take issue with.
Other than that, he is what he is, a slick fielding SS with a very weak bat. Cozart will be a welcome replacement.
If he batted 8th and LF & 3rd were not black holes this season no one would care what Janish hit, he makes plays look routine other can not even get to
that point is huge, big time
His defense isn't that good to justify his hiting. He made a lot of errors this year and statistics wise he isn't that good of a fielder.
It think it is funny how all of the same people on this board who rail on Dusty wanted Janish to play last year and kept saying how much better than Cabrera he would have been. Now these same "experts" blame Dusty for playing him. Incredible.
At least we only have to put up with Janish for a few more games. Cozart should be good for next year and I'd let Frazier have the backup job. He can play almost anywhere and did a good job at short when he played there. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten more chances at SS lately
dusty should have played him, but for a while only, enough sample size was needed to see he hits like ray oyler on steroids
Not sure which fielding statistics you are looking at. But, per Fangraphs, looking at NL shortstops who have played a minimum of 500 innings at the position, Paul Janish leads the pack. His defense isn't that good to justify his hiting. He made a lot of errors this year and statistics wise he isn't that good of a fielder.

Iknow he is a good fielder, but the whole world knew that going into this season. You would thin that in the off season preceeding this year that he might have attempted to improved and distinguish himself from the likes of Darrell Chaney, and Woody Woodward
