Alonso with his second base knock, a liner over third. I think they said ninth multi-hit game in 13 starts.

Stubbs hits a rocket to short. Alonso, not expecting Stubbs to make contact, not far enough off the bag to be doubled up.

Francisco with a fly to short left-center. Mesoraco to the plate and grounds into a force play at short.

It has. Most dissapointing position player to me has been Stubbs. Followed closely by Janish. And Dusty. He counts because he puts players in poor "position" to succeed.

No not Jay Bruce is not even close. Good year. Needs to be better next year especially in the field. He looks kinda tired and out of it.

Leake is an excellent fielder. One down.

Leake pitched that inning in a rocker chair. Breezing through three Cubbie batters. 82 pitches through seven innings.

    Leake Ks.
    Phillips BBs.
Dempsey throws one away trying to pickoff Brandon, who scoots over to second.
Renteria flies deep enough to right to allow Phillips to advance 90 feet.

Dempster up to 120 pitches. I see a baseball flying deep into the night air. Dempster is scared. I can't say that I blame him. Votto walks. Bruce providing no protection. Bruce Ks for the third time tonight. 7 LOB for Jay. Try Alonso in the four-hole. What can it hurt?

Demps scared of Votto, not of Bruce. Right now, no one is scared of Bruce.
