What will the lineup look like in 2012 if no one is traded?

If Francisco, Stubbs, Alonso, Heisey, Sappelt, Mez, Frazier, Cozart are all here and healthy, what will the lineup look like?

C - Hanigan/Mez platoon. Ramon walks in free agency.
1B - Votto, Votto and more Votto.
2B - Phillips. I can't see them not picking up this option unless some team overwhelms them with a trade, which again, I don't see happening.
3B - Rolen (RH)/Francisco (LH). Rolen has one more year on his contract, is coming off surgery, and is basically untradable. Francisco is looking good this September both offensively and defensively, and should be the heir apparent.
SS - Definitely a question mark. I liked what I saw from Cozart in his short stint, but he is coming off injury and was unproven when he got injured. I don't see Janish back with the club next season because of the Francisco platoon situation plus he can play LF, and with Cairo again under contract. I see Renteria possibly back next year, which wouldn't upset me because I think he has had more big hits than people give him credit for. He definitely gives more offense than Janish ever will. And I see Frazier or Valaika possibly getting the nod over Renteria.........so this might be the most interesting development of next year's Spring Training if no trades are made.
RF - Bruce, Bruce, and more Bruce.
CF - Stubbs, Stubbs, and more Stubbs if no trades are made.
LF - Heisey (RH), Alonso (LH) platoon? Maybe.

Starting Pitchers (5) - Arroyo, Cueto, Leake, Bailey, Volquez or Wood.
Relief Pitchers (7) - Masset, Bray, Ondrusek, Arredondo, Cordero?, Lecure, Boxberger? (Chapman goes to Louisville to become a starter?)(Burton?)

    Catchers (2) - Hanigan, Mez
14 players so far. 11 spots left.
IFers - Votto, Phillips, Rolen, Cozart, Cairo,
    IFers/OFers - Francisco (3B, LF), Alonso (1B, 3B, LF), Frazier (3B, SS, 2B, LF)
    OFers - Bruce, Stubbs, Heisey

This makes Sappelt the odd man out.

    Against righthanded pitchers:
    2B Phillips
    RF Bruce
    1B Votto
    3B Francisco
    LF Alonso
    CF Stubbs
    SS Cozart
    C Mez/Hanigan

    Against lefthanded pitchers:
    CF Stubbs
    2B Phillips
    1B Votto
    LF Heisey
    3B Rolen
    RF Bruce
    SS Cozart
    C Mez/Hanigan

If the assumption is that no one is gets traded then:

    1) I don't see the team going with only Cozart as the only true shortstop. So Janish or Renteria would have to stay.
    2) If that happens then I think Frazier gets bumped.
    3) I think Cordero gets brought back. Boxberger starts in AAA. And the rotation loser - Volquez or Wood - goes to the pen.

Reds have tons of talent so expect blockbuster trade(s). Somehow the #4 spot has to be filled. Bruce doesn't cut it there so Votto's production suffers.

what the reds define as talent does not statisically pan out, stubbs is not a numerical talent but more like a first round pick failure

This is how it'd be If a smart guy like me ran the show, and I don't see how anyone could argue with this depth chart/plan

    Phillips
    Heisey

    Bruce
    Alonso
    Francisco
    Mesoraco
    Cozart

    Against LHP:
    Phillips
    Heisey
    Votto
    Rolen
    Bruce
    Hanigan
    Alonso
    Cozart

Stubbs' #s against right handed pitchers are abysmal- His OBP is under .300! You simply cannot keep running him out there every game. On the other hand, Heisy's numbers against right handers are ok.

Against LHP, I'd substitute Heisey for Alonso. Otherwise, it's correct.

Re: What will the lineup look like in 2012 if no one is traded?

    Phillips
    Cozart
    Votto
Alonso/Heisey (bump the next two up of Heisey is in)
    Bruce
    Rolen/Francisco
    Mesoraco/Hanigan
    Stubbs

I think that lineup can score a lot of runs. Having Alonso and Francisco up here plus Cozart from day one is going to increase offensive production in places that were bad this year.

I would be okay with a straight platoon at C, 3B, and LF. And I'm okay with bringing Renteria back, for a backup SS you can do much worse. For the guys we have here now BP's option is a no brainer, but they would be crazy not to try and extend him at an affordable price. Even if he says no, showing that we want to would be a good start. Coco is a big decision, I'm not really even sure what I would do there.

If Rolen is healthy and playing, Scott Rolen is hitting cleanup over Chris Heisey. Maybe Alonso slips in there against righthanders but I doubt that even. You have no idea how much Veteran Creaminess counts with this manager.

You are probably right but I hope not. Not unless we get the 2010 pre-ASB Scott Rolen.

I would say Rolen starts the year hitting cleanup if he is healthy and then maybe is moved down in the order if he struggles. But that is his spot in the lineup to lose. Not sure if I agee with that, but that is how I see it. JMO.
