    I always admired the fact (still do, actually) that after every game he would make entries into a log book concerning his ABs and other happenings during the game. He would then have something to refer back to the next time he faced that club or that pitcher.

    It took a lot of self-discipline to do that but I'm sure it paid off in a big way for him.
