Miguel Cairo done for the year

Arthroscopic surgery to clean out his right shoulder, per team press notes.

No problem with this. The man has been one of the best supersubs in MLB over the past 2 seasons. Get well and ill happily welcome him back for the 2nd year of his contract next year.

So true every NL team needs a guy like this, and generally a vet works better in the role.

I whole-heartedly agree. I'll admit I didn't think he had much left. But he obviously takes good care of himself and is a dedicated vet that fill his role (and more) admirably. Consistently good ABs and doesn't embarass himself in the field.

Cairo should play a role next year, filling in and helping the kids acclimate, then retire and go into the Hall of Fame as a Red.
