    Fangraph WAR Numbers....

    How the Reds ranked by position - NL only.

    Catcher - 4th (3.7)
    First - 1st (6.9)
    Second - 1st (6.0)
    Third - 3rd (4.4)
    Short - 12th (1.5)
    Left - 6th (3.6)
    Center - 13th (2.6)
    Right - 11th (3.1)
    Starters - 14th (5.7)
    Relievers - 13th (1.2)

    wow that should prove to walt that the pitching and the shortstop position stunk and hurt the reds.

    After all the complaining on here about LF and 3B I think it should be pointed out that the Reds were actually pretty good at both positions.

    The NL has really become a pitcher's league. There are guys everywhere putting up big numbers. To me the Reds starting rotation didn't look that bad especially after the Allstar break. But when you put them in comparison they are obviously the problem. The Reds position players mostly rank very high.

    Quoted for truth. Reds fans are so used to dreck standing out on the mound that they think the pitchers on the team now are good. They are not. They are only good compared to the memories of pitching staffs from the Lost Decade.

    I should clarify and say the Reds pitchers are not horrible. Just that they aren't as good as most Reds fans imagine. It is all relative.

    I like Leake and Wood. Never cared much for Bailey.

    A rough season, yeah, but I'm confident he'll turn it around. Bailey has had years to get his crap together.

    There was an obv whole at SS and pitching as shown by the WAR.
