    Birthdays- 10/4

    Reds (lots of them):

Drew Stubbs (27) Lots of players take a major step forward in their age-27 year. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Kyle Lohse (33) Traded for Matt Maloney. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

    Billy Hatcher (51)

    Charlie Liebrandt (55)

Ted Davidson -Lefty who never really panned out. I have a vague recollection that he was involved in a stabbing, but I don't remember the details.

    Others:

    John Wathan
    (62) -How many modern-day catchers are there with 100+ career steals?

Tony LaRussa (67) -The manager we all love to hate. I'll say this; the guy is aging well.

Liebrandt is 55? Good lord this makes me feel old.

Perhaps Tony has some secret potion hidden in that St. Louis clubhosue that helps him keep a youthful appearance. Hope he does not confuse it with the other secret potions that he has seemed to keep in those LaRussa clubhouses meant for his players. A man his age should not be able to hit a baseball 475 feet.

I looked it up...Ted Davidson was not stabbed, but shot three times in the chest and abdomen by his estranged wife in March of 1967. He recovered, but was never able to pitch at his earlier levels.

I was probably confusing him with Jim Wynn, who was once on the receiving end of some cutlery wielded by his significant other...

Nope, sorry, didn't happen. Time is running out for Mr. Stubbs.
