Rounding third and heading for home...
Well, dont' forget those teams actually made moves to improve at the trade deadline. We did nothing. So what was our record vs them after July 31st?
they also improved their teams before the season and at the deadline.. sadly Walt and Bob were blind to the obvious issues and lets Pray they dont make that same mistake this off season!! Losing and no playoff wins doesnt sell 3 million tickets..
The Reds may have been in contention but that was due to the overall mediocrity of the division until August 1st. It only would have taken one hot stretch for the Reds to have taken control over the division during the summer and they couldn't do it. It's impossible to reel off long winning streaks when you only have 2 1/2 legit starters for the whole year.
Arroyo/Volquez/Wood/Willis/Maloney all had ERA's over 5 as a starter, that's 60% of the starts made this year. A deadline deal for a starter like Doug Fister or Edwin Jackson could have stabilized their rotation enough to have kept them in it. You don't have to always go for the grand slam move to keep your team motivated.
why do something when the media and fans are passive, keep trotting out uselss arroyo and volquez and retread garbage like willis rather than preemptively strike
