    Series 6 Exam

Just curious if any RZ's had taken the series 6 exam and if anyone has if they had any advice or suggestions to help with studying. Thanks.

    Re: Series 6 Exam

I have my 7 which is different, but the tests are structed the same. I've heard that the 6 is a little bit easier than the 7 mainly because it doesn't take as long. I think the key with any of these financial exams is just to do a lot of practice questions. The study guides are very good and give very similar questions to what you will see on the actual test. I studied for about a month every day before my 7, but I think for the 6 you can probably cut that down to 10-14 days and be pretty safe if you really focus on it.

    Good luck.

I've heard the 7 is quite a bit more difficult than the 6, but I'll be sure to study as much as possible. Thanks for the feedback.

    Re: Series 6 Exam

I did the series 65 three years ago. Not sure how it relates to the series 6, but I think the overall structure of these things are similar, since they are all done by FINRA. It wasn't difficult. Aced economics and financial products and flunked "ethics" (didn't study). Overall I passed with room to spare.

I guess brushing up on the relevant laws would be my advice. Do some practice exams if available.

I passed the series 7. Studied for about two weeks in the evenings after work. Did a fair amount of cramming the weekend before the test. The test was easier than I expected it to be. Just focus on practice questions and study the areas that you don't understand as well.

I have mine- the 6 is worlds easier than the7. You really shouldn't have too much trouble. I bought a Kaplan book and did it that way.

Don't get intimidated by the questions- just learn the difference between all the types of bonds and stocks and you should be fine.

The ethics stuff is common sense, as are the terms and your responsibilities as an agent.

The investment questions are the toughest and once you realize they are simply asking about how the different types of investments are suitable for different situations it's a breeze. Once I saw that I started thinking a lot less and my practice test scores shot up.
