And another thing, is a $1mil contract REALLY too much for the Reds to offer D-Train to stay stationed in Cincy? I thought there was speculation he might command a $4-5mil deal somewhere this offseason, but that certainly doesn't ring true. The ONLY upside to this is it might be opening up a SP spot for a potential (nearing?) trade. Hmm...

It's ok for Dontrelle to leave. He didn't do that well as a starter for the Reds. I know folks wanted him in the bullpen, but he's never been a reliever. His role right now is as a back-up depth starter, probably at AAA, and it's no big deal that he'll be doing that elsewhere.
While I won't miss Dontrelle on the Reds, it is almost comical how the door in the Reds' off-season clubhouse only opens one way. Departures only!
I would have liked for him to stay and see him return to his stronger days. And for him to give Stubbs tips on hitting.
The Reds did not need a LOOGY. $1M and a roster spot is too much to pay for something you don't need.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I guess he could be used as a LOOGY but it still doesn't turn me on. However, I'm the same person who was excited last year about Brian Tallet's splits against lefties in Toronto and I was epicly wrong, lol.
For $1M I'd resign him. If he's a loogy then it may allow Chapman to move in the starting rotation.

Bray and...... ?
Assuming they are serious about switching Chapman into a starting pitcher that leaves.....I guess Wood is still there.
I don't think it's the first thing that comes to mind when you try and turn the current roster into a baseball team, but unless I'm missing something another Loogy is certainly on the list of things that would be nice to have.
"Even a bad day at the ballpark beats the snot out of most other good days. I'll take my scorecard and pencil and beer and hot dog and rage at the dips and cheer at the highs, but I'm not ever going to stop loving this game and this team and nobody will ever take that away from me." Dontrelle's twitter messege to the reds.
I just want to say I owe the whole reds organization a great deal. Great staff top to bottom and I wish those guys all the best #reds
I can spell,I just can't type!!
Nothing of value was lost. Best of luck though D-Train.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
Official now.
