    Birthdays- 11/8

    Reds:

Eric Anthony (44) -A Red in 95-96: I always liked him and thought he should play more.

John Denny (59) - NL Cy Young Award winner in '83; fifnished his career with the Reds in '86.

Tony Cuccinello -Started his career with two good years with the Reds in 1930 and '31. In 1945 he finished one point away from the NL batting title, and then was released that off-season.

    Others:

Mike Stanton (22) -If the Marlins don't want him, I'd be willing to take him.

Dwight Smith (48) - Cub OF finished 2nd in Rookie of the Year voting to teammate Jerome Walton. Actually, a similar player to Eric Anthony.

Ed Kranepool (67) - Played with the '62 Mets at age 17; went on to become the Mets career leader in games and hits. Later a stockbroker in NYC.

Bucky Harris -Managed in the bigs at age 27. Managed for 29 years and won 2157 games which puts him 6th all-time.

A Kranepool quote from Casey Stengel, on why he kept the rookie on the bench in 1962, "He's only seventeen and he runs like he's thirty".

Also, Kranepool is associated with a humorous Supreme Court story. Justice Potter Stewart was a baseball fan who, while he was listening to oral arguments, asked one of his clerks to provide him with play by play accounts
of the 1973 playoff game between the Mets and the Reds. It was a time of political turbulence and one of the notes read simply "Kranepool flies to right. Agnew resigns."
