Still, though, a couple of those players managed to maintain their momentum, and one of them was Ronald Torreyes. Torreyes hit .370/.434/.564 as a 17-year-old in 2010, but much of that was compiled in the Venezuelan Summer League, where he hit .390/.468/.606. Certainly, that was interesting, especially when he continued to excel in the Arizona Summer League (.349/.379/.494 in 18 games), but including him on last year’s list was definitely premature.

Pardon me for my stupidity, and I tried looking online but to no avail, but what was the reason why Torreyes joined Dayton in the middle of June instead of the full season? Was he hurt or what was the reason?

The reason was probably two fold.... first, he is 18, so he has time to get to where he is going. Secondly, the Reds had a 3rd round draft pick that also plays second base from 2010 who started the year in Dayton, but did terribly before being sent to Billings when that season started.
