    Congrats to Coach K...

For having ESPN air a 3 hour Duke recruiting video tonight.

In sincerity, a remarkable accomplishment. I don't care for their program and a lot of things they do, but they have won. A lot.

One thing I don't understand is why the heck ESPN decided to cut away from a LIVE game between two Top 10 teams to show Andy Katz interviewing him. If people wanted to see that, they'd be watching the other channel. I mean, who gets ESPN2 but not ESPN? Enough of the pandering to the lazy who can't be bothered to hit the previous button on their remotes!

Three hour? More like five if you count the UK-KU game afterwards.

Bobby Knight and his protege sit a top the win totals..... incredible. Who knew West Point basketball would shape the collegiate landscape so indelibly.

Except that it doesn't really translate from era to era. Not that total wins does either.

Nice story about Bob Knight and Coach K and the twists and turns of a complex friendship over the years.

That's a great story, it gets (at least) one fact wrong. It says that in 1987 Knight won the 2nd of his titles, but it was his third.

    Re: Congrats to Coach K...

When does coach K go away? Typically when someone breaks a long standing mark like this or an accumulation total like this they have another year, year and a half in them. Does that seem like the fate of K?

Good read. I didnt know about Knight spending time at Coach Ks house and consoling his mom. From my personal experience with Coach K it does seem that he's taken a page from Knight there.

I had a friend who died of cancer several years ago and coach K spent over an hour consoling my friend's wife over the phone the morning he died. I remember at the time being so amazed by that.
