Kershaw is the winner of NL Cy Young Award

My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Johnny Cueto got one 5th place vote, and finished tied for 10th w/ Grienke and Kimbrel.

Why, 1-2-3 was pretty obvious, and the voters saw it that way.

1-2-3 was pretty obvious, but not in that order. Any attempt to control for the contributions of environment and/or his team's defensive contributions quickly puts Halladay in the lead (this is true in both Fangraph's FIP based approach and Baseball-References Runs Allowed based-approach). That said, it's all close enough between those 3 to say that any of them were deserving.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I agree all were deserving, thats's why I was surprised that anyone would be "stunned" with the result. Holliday edged out Kershaw in FIP. Kershaw's 20 win season ensured he would win. That's what the voters have usually look for amoung decent candidates. Like it or not, a pitcher who leads the league in wins, K's and ERA is not going to lose the CYA.

I've seen this list everywhere and I haven't seen Cueto anywhere on any of them. I'd love to be wrong though. I think he deserved a mention at least.

He missed too much of the season to get noticed. If he can stay healthy all season he will be in the running in the near future.
