    Predict Phillips' Contract

Assuming he signs an extension this year that voids his current 12 million for this year, predict the number of years, then the amount per year. Fay has stated it will be between the 9.5 per year and 12.4 per year that Weeks and Uggla got last year. Phillips is motivated to get something done with Cincinnati. Also add if you think there will be deferments and option years.

That's a great stab at it, although I'm thinking it's a bit richer than that.

5 years, 12 million per, club option for 5th year. 2 million dollar buyout.

    Re: Predict Phillips' Contract

I think the contract he'll get if he stays a Red pays him $3-4MM less than he'd get on the open market.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

3 years, average of $11mm per, 1 year option with deferments.

This would be even better, although I can't see BP agreeing to that.
