No, but my broken thumb led to me being a much better basketball player. For 8 weeks I could only play with my left hand. When I was fully healed, my skillset was much greater.

Same type of thing happened to a buddy of mine growing up. He was right handed and broke his left arm. The left arm was casted with the elbow bent. He contiued to play basketball (we played almost everyday) and the form on his shot became picture perfect.

I don't know the specifics of Rodriguez's thumb fracture, but should we be concerned in general with regard to thumb fractures? Are there other instances where players have had a lot of difficulty regaining form after this type of injury?

It probably depends on the specific injury. But, I don't imagine there being a long term issue.
