Source: Cubs to announce Sveum as manager on Friday

The Chicago Cubs offered their managerial job to Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Dale Sveum on Wednesday. According to the Sun-Times, some sources believe the Cubs introduce him as their new manager Friday.

“We can’t address anything specifically at this point,” Cubs president of baseball operation Theo Epstein told reporters Thursday, according to MLB.com. “As Jed (Hoyer) said (Wednesday), we’re at that stage. We’ve been open with (the media) throughout this process, very open, but when it gets to the final inning here, we need to keep things confidential. If and when we have something to announce, we’ll do so.”

    Yep, done deal

So, Theo didn't want Sandberg as manager because he didn't have Major League managerial experience...

Sveum, who turns 48 next Wednesday, has little experience as a manager, other than an interim stint for the Brewers late in 2008 after Ned Yost was fired.

What Theo said was that he wasn't considering anyone who didn't have any major league coaching experience, Sandberg has never been on a major league coaching staff.
