The Texas Rangers have signed Closer/RHP Joe Nathan, reportedly to a 2 year contract. This move seems to indicate that RHP Neftali Feliz will be moving into the starting rotataion.

My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!
This is a very underrated signing, IMO. Could reap very very big rewards.

Whoa, just saw it was a 2yr/$14.5mil contract. That's steep, IMO. Im glad the Reds didn't tie that money up in Nathan.

I have to believe Cordero will get more than Nathan. 9 mil?
2015 Rotation: Under Construction
Guess Mike Adams still has to wait for his shot.
This contract indicates the Reds are in a pretty good spot for offering arbitration to Cordero. He'll get at least as good as Nathan, likely better -- meaning he'd turn down the arb offer.
I wonder if that's true.... More guaranteed money or AAV? 2 years promised the closer role (performance permitting) vs 1? Going through free agency 2 winters in a row? I think Cordero might prefer the guaranteed dough and security. He's older, has his sights set on climbing the career saves list, and doesn't need the dough.Well, Nathan signed for 14.5Mil for two years. Cordero could get close to that through arbitration for 1 year. If the Reds offer Cordero arbitration.... he will be a Red in 2012.
I have a feeling the Rangers are going to go on a Big Red Machine like run. All the ingredients are in place.
The BRM started off the 70's with some heartbreaking playoff/World Series losses too. In fact, if they don't pull out game 7 in '75, they might have developed a Buffalo Bills like (choker) reputation that could have stuck with them forever.
It might not be this year, but within the next two years I expect the Rangers to have their 1975/1976 seasons of redemption.
Yeah, the Reds absolutely will not risk an arbitration hearing with Coco. They will not offer him arbitration -- unless there is a pre-arrangement that Coco won't accept arbitration and will continue to negotiate with the team.
No way the Reds will take even the slightest risk of an arbitration hearing with Coco, at which he could get north of $10 million.
