That's also not to mention the poor field conditions in Bakersfield . . .

I went with Cingrani here. I am worried about his lack of a third pitch, but I think he can pick up a passable change up or a splitfinger that has been mentioned. I value high-potential pitching prospects over guys like Henry Rodriguez who could be a better chance to be a solid major-league contributor than Cingrani, but Rodriguez is not as likely to be a core member of the Reds in 2017 as Cingrani is. Cingrani could be a TOR arm for the Reds. I value that more than an average second baseman.

Cingrani has a chance to move quickly through the minors. I suspect he'll go Dayton, Bakersfield this year, and AA, AAA next for a call-up either in September of 2013 or April of 2014.

Rodriguez will be ready either this year or early next and is younger.

Rodriguez has produced well, has positive scouting reports, and is extremely young for his league. The only thing not to like are his apparent attitude issues.

    Meh.

Rodriguez is an easy choice for me, IMO.

    Good point.

Rodriguez is going to be one of the more interesting prospects to watch. This could be a big year for him.

Personally, I'd love it if the Reds stockpiled prospects similar to Rodriguez. By that I mean middle infielders with a plus bat.

After seeing Henry Rodriguez on TV yesterday, he reminds me of a young Carlos Baerga in many ways.

I would take 16 career WAR From HRod. HRod may actually be the most important prospect in the system right now because a repeat of his AA performance in AAA next year would really allow the Reds to let Phillips walk. I am not saying that I don't want Phillips to come back, but HRod definitely will be giving the Reds more bang for their buck than Phillips in 2013 and certainly 2015 and I don't think the Reds have the room in their budget for him.

From the left side, that is exactly who his swing reminds me of.

Yeah, but his body type, his defense, his attitude. I see a lot of similarities
