Slim pickings today...

Reds:

Wayne Simpson (63) -Pitched a two-hit shutout versus the Dodgers in his major league debut; probably the best debut of any Reds pitcher ever. If he hadn't hurt his arm, how good would the BRM have been???

Pedro Borbon (65) -You all know the classic Borbon stories, so I'll just mention that his name appears in the movie Airplane, during Ted Stryker's echoing inner dialogue- "Now hitting for Pedro Borbon...Manny Mota".

Others:

Mark Kotsay (36) -Not much to say about Mark. He did hit for the cycle once in 2008.

Darryl Kile -Would have been 43 today. The first active major leaguer to die during the regular season since Thurman Munson. He's remembered with permanent memorials in the bullpens at St. Louis, Houston and Colorado.
